Replace Only the LCD Screen on Sidekick 2008
Did your Sidekick 2008 LCD screen get cracked? Backlight burned out? I am sorry to hear that, but there are finally LCD Screens becoming available for the sidekick 2008. This mean you will be able to replace the broken LCD screen and fix your sidekick 2008 yourself.

Sidekick 2008 LCD Screen Replacements for sale
This is a guide on how to replace the just the Sidekick 2008 LCD screen and not the whole assembly. It is fairly easy to do.
Tools Needed:
T6 torx driver
Size 0 philipps screwdriver
Guitar pick or some over type of tool to pry covers off.
Materials Needed:
Directions:
- Power down unit.
- Remove back shell and take out the battery.
- Flip the sidekick screen halfway to access the two screws that need to be removed. Remove the screws using the T6 torx driver.
4. While still holding the screen in the half flipped position, gently lift the screen up and out.
Warning
Be careful not to touch the copper contacts on the connector shown below. The pins on the connector of the base unit are very fragile.
5. Flip the LCD assembly over and lay it down so the front is facing down. It is a good idea to put it on something soft so the cover doesn’t scratch.
6. Remove the 6 black Philips size 0 screws from the back. You will need to rotate the flex cable out of the way to access the two on the bottom left side. See picture for reference.
7. Work along the edges to release the front a back covers using a plastic guitar pick or other suitable pry tool.
8. Lift the back cover up and out starting from the top. You will need to rotate the flex cable out of the way to fully remove the cover.
9. You will now see the flex cable connection to the back of the Sidekick 2008 LCD screen.
10. Use the guitar pick to flip the little black connector up and the remove the flex cable from the connector.
11. Remove the two silver screws holding the flex cable swivel down and lift swivel and flex cable out. 
12. Pry around all the edges of the LCD screen to loosen. Use a plastic pry tool.
13. Lift the LCD screen up and out. 
13. Install your new LCD into the front housing.
14.Install the flex cable swivel back into the housing and install two silver screws. Look at the picture below to see how the pieces go back on.
15. Put the flex cable back into the connector and press the black tab down firmly to make sure connector is secured.
16. Install the rear cover of the LCD assembly. Rotate the Swivel assembly out of the way if necessary.
17. Install the six black screws back into the rear cover. These are the screws removed in step 6.
18. Prepare the replacement screen for installation. Make sure the spring unit is aligned as shown. Fail to follow this step can cause the screen not to flip properly. If it is not aligned as shown, rotate spring assembly until it is. 
19. Rotate the LCD screen to the half flipped position and install in base unit. See picture in step 4 for the proper angle to install. Once installed, slowly release the screen and allow to flip into position.
20. Rotate the LCD screen to the half flipped position and install the two screws removed in step 3 and tighten them down.
21. Test the flip action of your phone. It if doesn’t work right, remove screen and go back to step 18.
22. Once the flip action is working, it is time to reinstall the battery and back cover.
23. Power up your Sidekick 2008 and enjoy it with a functional LCD Screen.
